In Case of Fire

We all know we should be prepared. Go bags should be packed, an emergency exit strategy should be developed and communicated, and a designated meeting spot established. Those are just some of the practical, and easier, tasks to address should a fire break out in your home.

What to take, however, is where we as individuals splinter in our thoughts processes. Outside of the obvious bipeds and quadrupeds, what each one values enough to risk our lives for can be as unique as we are. Photos, heirlooms, jewelry, cash, important documents, our favorite blanket or the blue birds of happiness figurines, gifted by your mother decades ago. All of these are important, and yet they are not. From an eternal perspective.

The material things that I hold most dear in life are kept in one place: a SentrySafe Fireproof and Waterproof Lock Box with Digital Keypad Lock.

The selling points to this holder of the goods were Advanced Fire Protection, for 1/2 hour at 1550°F and Water Resistant for submersion up to 72 hours.

Weighing in at 24 pounds, I am not even allowed to lift it! So, why this particular model? Simply because if I'm alone when an emergency breaks out, it may need to be left behind, and the contents are too priceless to be left to anything less.

Of course my husband and I store our important document here, as well as our extra key fobs and a few miscellaneous items, but there are items in there that are so amazing, we now call this The God Box. Because the value it holds is all the ways, through all the years, that God has directly and tangibly connected with me during times of prayer, hardship and joy.

I've put this post under Signs and Wonders, because that is what I am so thrilled to share with you. The signs and wonders I've seen, that I've been blessed by. Each piece with a beautiful back story of a God who sees my need and responds perfectly, in His own way, to give me just enough grace for the step I'm on. Just enough encouragement, hope and faith to see the forest through the trees. To see Him through the chaos.

I was looking for a gift for a friend recently, and came across this on mugs, t-shirts, mouse pads, etc. I believe I can relate to the sentiment, and still find it to be a bit obnoxious. You see, I know I'm not God's favorite, but in all the ways He loves me, provides for me, cares for me and carries me, it's hard to NOT feel like His favorite. It is the longing of my heart that you also experience this intimate relationship with Him. There's none like it!

I look forward to sharing the contents of The God Box with you. Be prepared to be impressed. We serve a pretty awesome God!
