I am a big believer in the truism, I don't know what I don't know. So I am a fan of documentaries. Anything that dives deep into the intricacies of the planet that God created keeps me fascinated. I've traveled the world and have seen His magnificent beauty, all from the comfort of my own living room. There are times technology just gets it right!
I especially love well-made, and scripturally grounded documentaries about the Godhead and my faith
The two that I share with you today are some of the best I've ever watched, and I return to them often. With each viewing, more of God's will is revealed, more of my heart is changed, and my faith in the truth of God's word is strengthened..
As someone whose suffering has brought surrender, I am profoundly moved by Russell and Katherine Berger's testimony, which weaves beautifully and meaningfully through both of these documentaries. I feel both humbled and encouraged by their story, because they came to know and love the same Jesus I came to know and love. He is altogether lovely!
Every nugget of God's truth shared, along with the motherlode of knowledge, wisdom and humility from the contributors, makes these two films spiritual goldmines! I could not begin to capture all the priceless insights, but share some of my favorite from each film below:
The bible is not about you!
Matt Chandler, Elder/Lead Pastor
The Village Church
The Christians who were around me wouldn't share the gospel with me and I never realized why. I concluded either they didn't believe the gospel was true, or if they did believe it, they didn't care if I went to hell.
Nabeel Kureshi, Christian Apologist/Author
With The Lord Since September 16, 2017
If someone doesn't have a right view of the gospel, they don't have a right view of anything.
Abandon all hope in your works. Abandon all hope in your religiosity and trust in the person and work of Christ alone.
Paul Washer, Pastor/Missionary
HeartCry Missionary Society
"The Bible is a book about Jesus. Jesus is Himself the "Gospel", the Good News. So, in the Old Testament, He's predicted. In the Gospels, He's revealed, In the Acts, He's preached. In the Epistles, He's explained, and in the Book of Revelation, He's Expected!
Alistair Begg, American Minister
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs and theirs alone is the kingdom of heaven. The only people that belong to the realm of Christ, are those who recognize that they are spiritually bankrupt. That they have no righteousness of their own.
Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted. The idea being that the Christian is someone who mourns over his sin, mourns over his lack of righteousness, looks at the perfection of God, looks at the perfection of His law, and says, "I fall short." And he mourns over his personal inadequacy before a Holy God.
Don Green, Pastor
