I first came across Pastor Mike Winger through the American Gospel documentaries. The way he handled the truth of God's word straightforwardly, with a confident, but not cocky, manner made me look further, and I'm glad I did.

The tagline, Helping You Learn to Think Biblically About Everything is exactly where I want to be. I admit many attitude adjustments were, and still are, needed. It is much more difficult to learn to think biblically, than it is to have feelings about God word. They are not the same. Not even close.

As fallen humans today, we rely so heavily on the feelings in our hearts. That is our emotional center. Yet, to the ancient Hebrews, the heart was the intellectual center of mind and thought, And God, you know, being the center of all, knows that you cannot change how you feel about something, until you change the way you think about it. That why He wants our hearts to conform to His, higher and better than our emotions will ever be. "I the Lord search the heart and test the mind,..." Jeremiah 17:10

While Pastor Mike does have some verse by verse teachings available, I especially like his topical messages. Recently my heart was changed after listening to his entire series on the subject of Women in Ministry...over 20 hours worth of material to digest. As I write this, I feel no need to share where I landed, or to argue for or against either the complementarian or egalitarian viewpoint. I will tell you this though, it was a deep dive into scripture, and culture and history, and I loved every minute of it!

Pastor Mike is open about his hurtful past, and is so discerning with his sharing. I see that grace and forgiveness are fundamental to own spiritual journey, and respect that he keeps many details to himself, for fear of hurting those who once hurt him. It's a beautiful thing to watch, and to learn from.

I only have one critique, and it is relatively small. In his relative youth, Pastor Mike has, on occasion, made comments that, while true, might not have come out as pure and noble as they could have nor, I believe. as pure and noble as he meant them to. I hold no judgment, as I am not always as sensitive as I should be in my words, especially given that each person's situation is unique, and there are times my perspective can be woefully uninformed.

If you don't already know Mike Winger and the BibleThinker.org ministry, you should!

It's to a blessing to me, and will be to you also, that the Lord called Mike to this full time teaching ministry. My walk with the Lord has grown, and will continue to using these FREE resources. Can I get an amen!
